Rani Mukherjee’s career which was already on an all-time low took a further nosedive after the debacle of Dil Bole Hadippa. Now, the erstwhile queen bee of B-town isn’t missing a chance to clinch any role that might spring her back into limelight.
The actress met acclaimed director Deepa Mehta and author Salman Rushdie last month in Toronto where she discussed with the duo their upcoming screen adaptation of Rushdie’s Booker-winning novel ‘Midnight’s Children.
While Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas and Nandita Das - all the usual suspects - have already been finalized for the film, it’s learnt that there is still a slot for an actress, and Rani is being considered for that part.
Deepa Mehta confirms meeting Rani in Toronto recently, but she adds that nothing has been finalized yet. However, Mehta did make it clear that she wants to work with Rani in some project. Whether it happens in ‘Midnight’s Children’ or not remains to be seen.
