A firm believer in destiny, debutant Zarine Khan believes that she is plain lucky to have got a huge platform like VEER which is being describe as an 'epic love story' and hence raises her on a pedestal where the focus is on a leading lady as well. This is why when most of the leading ladies traditionally opt for a much tried and tested route by playing an urban cosmopolitan girl in their first films, Zarine didn't hesitate even one bit and agreed to do a period film.
"Maine kuch pehle se toh socha nahi tha or naa hi koyi plans they. Isliye there was no choice either", confesses Zarine who is not yet allowing any starry airs and attitude to set in, "Everything happened just so very unexpectedly. In any case I was never aspiring to be an actress and once I got a chance to work opposite Salman and that too in a project which he calls as his dream, the question of whether or not to look at VEER as a period film didn't arise at all."
Instead, she is looking at this entire opportunity as a silver lining because she has begun her acting career with something which is different from the rest of the world. "It's certainly not a drawback to start with a period film. On the contrary it's an advantage because while other girls get to play a part like this at a later stage in their career once they are thoroughly established, I have got this opportunity so early on. This is why I love to treat VEER as a feather in my cap."
