3 Idiots dominated the Star Screen Awards

Director Rajkumar Hirani’s film 3 Idiots swept the board at the 16th annual Star Screen Awards in Mumbai, winning as many as 10 statuettes in different categories. R. Balki’s film Paa also bagged a few awards, with its leading man Amitabh Bachchan winning the Best Actor statuette for his moving performance as a 12-year-old kid suffering from progeria.

Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor won the Popular Choice Best actor award for his performance in Kaminey while Kareena Kapoor got the same award (female) for her role in ‘3 Idiots’.

Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by Amitabh Bachchan and Yash Chopra.
