It was a kind of role that she wanted for a long time and finally she got it; Vidya Balan plays a sex kitten who romances Arshad Warsi and seduces Naseeruddin Shah.
“I know it’s going to shock people but I thoroughly enjoyed playing the bad girl in the film. There is an underlined sexual aggressiveness about the character and she speaks her mind,” as the actress is quoted about her role in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya.
The film is set in rural UP, like other films by Vishal and here Vidya is not coy but conniving, shrewd and foul mouthed. “There is plenty of abusive language and innuendo in the film” and later she admits that “when the camera rolls the sharam goes out of the window.”
That doesn’t mean she is dressed skimpily as she plays a rugged rural woman; so it’s “less polished” with a sense of sensuality and the actress had no apprehensions in shedding her inhibitions.
