A good movie that besides telling a touching story also holds out a noble message needs to be taken to as many people as possible. Following the amazing response to Paa not just from critics but from moviegoers as well, the Bachchans (producers) and director R. Balki have decided to take the film to the world.
Plans are afoot to come up with an international version of the film for the English speaking audiences. The global version will either have English subtitles or will be dubbed in English.
According to Balki, the international version will be edited differently but the basic theme of progeria, and the relationship between the child suffering from this rare disease and his mother and estranged father will remain the same, though the portions depicting Abhishek’s struggle and rise as a politician might be axed out.
Not just this, Balki has also seen other international films made on progeria and is determined to make sure that “the audience abroad would never have seen anything like Paa.”
The film has Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan playing Big B’s parents. Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as the progeric preteen has particularly been lauded by every critic.
