He brought back the hit jodi of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the film De Dana Dan and Priyadarshan’s comedy film has created magic at the box office. The film has marked a business of 70-80% on it's opening day.
However, the collections were below expectations for a Akshay-Katrina film, when compared to super hits like Singh Is Kinng and Welcome.
The film’s collection overseas was much better. ‘De Dana Dan’ scored very well in international markets. It was after a long time that a film did well overseas.
The film grossed approx Rs 23 crore over its first weekend. Kurbaan’s 10-day business touched the figure of Rs 9 crore in overseas market. In India it has had a poor run in its first week with collections of mere Rs 19 crore approx so far. The movie is surely a flop.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Ki Kahani remains the king at the box office. The movie added Rs 6 crore approx, taking its three weeks grand total to Rs 61.50 crore - certantly a super hit. The movie may cross the business of Love Aaj Kal the biggest hit of the year so far.
The real surprise, however, is the movie 2012, which has turned out to be the biggest hit among all films released in India this year.
