While the whole world believes that Katrina is recuperating in London with her family, a reliable London source tells us that she is actually in New York.
Incidentally, Ranbir Kapoor is also in New York shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani. Coincidence? We don’t think so.
Post her surgery in Mumbai, Katrina flew off to London claiming to spend New Year’s Eve with her family. Katrina, who ushers in the New Year with her mother and siblings each year, was particularly thrilled about the family reunion this time round, because she was looking forward to playing with her sister’s little son. But apparently, family has been sidelined in favor of some companionship.
One can’t help but wonder how she planned to keep her jaunt to New York a secret. It’s a small, small world after all. When we called her grandmother’s place in London, a relative said, “Oh, but Katrina is in New York.”
However Katrina said, “I’m very much in London. It’s a joke in my family about me being in New York because I’m harassed by many calls.”
Kaif also skipped beau (or is it seriously ex-beau now) Salman Khan’s birthday in favour of New York. Ranbir and Katrina met on the sets of Raajneeti but their friendship really took off when they shot Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. For the last few months, Ranbir has been in an on-off relationship with Deepika Padukone while Katrina’s relationship with Salman Khan has slowly ground to a halt.

Now you know the secret of that killer figure.

The film has now crossed Rs. 60 cr. mark and is heading for a Rs. 75 cr. to Rs. 80 cr. Week 1. Unbelievable, but true!

Celina Jaitley loves 2009
Those who thought that Celina Jaitley could never win an award for ‘Best Actress’ were proven wrong when the curvy babe showed that there’s more to her than her eye-grabbing anatomy. In November this year, she clinched the best female actor award for her performance in the English film ‘Love Has No Language’ at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival.
“This year has been so good. Winning this award has been an icing on the cake. These awards work as a motivation factor and help you perform better. As the role was a bit different from the conventional roles I do, it worked,” Celina is quoted as saying by a news agency.
After being typecast as a sex kitten in Hindi films, Celina has been trying to change her image by doing films and roles that challenge her as an actress.
“I have always seen that whenever I have attempted something different, I have been appreciated,” she added.
Incidentally, the actress has become a tad choosy and has been signing fewer films than before.
“If Aamir Khan does one movie at a time, he is applauded but if Celina Jaitley chooses to do a few movies, she is criticised. Why such disparity?” Celina questioned.
Among other things, Celina is doing films in different languages. She’s already been part of Telugu and Kannada films. Now, she wants to do a Bengali movie, preferably by Rituparno Ghosh.
Celina is all praise for Bengali directors.
“The way they weave stories is fascinating. They simply touch the human chord. I would love to work with Ritu-da. This would be one of my targets for the next year,” she revealed.
Celina’s next release in Bollywood would be Accident On Hill Road.

Akshay's good will
It could be atonement for his past deeds, or should it read, atonement for his past fees. Trade circles say that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who attained notoriety as the actor who was reportedly signed for as high a fee as Rs 71 crore for a film, has had a change of mind.
Reliable market sources say that the entire completion cost of Akshay’s next two films -Khatta Meetha directed by Priyadarshan and Tees Maar Khan directed by Farah Khan will reportedly not exceed Rs 35 crore.
So how did this miracle happen?
According to one trade source, “The cost of making Khatta Meetha and Tees Maar Khan will not include the actor’s fee.”
The same source adds that when Akshay realised that his films Chandni Chowk to China, Kambakkht Ishq and Tasveer lost money because of his individual fee as an actor, he decided to make a market correction.
Having studied the current Bollywood trade scene, the actor in concurrence with his filmmakers has decided not to charge a single penny for his films.
However, Akki’s banner Hari Om Productions is a co-producer on Khatta Meetha and Tees Maar Khan.
The actor explains the logic behind this drastic move of not charging his market fee, saying, “My fee for both films will be zero. If both films are hits, then my production house will stand to benefit by getting a part of the profits. If the film is average, the profit margin will automatically be reduced. However, it’s important to note here that even if the film flops, no one will lose money because the budget has been controlled. By not charging my personal remuneration as an actor, I’m making sure that these films will at least romp home with no losses.”
Trade sources say that the Akshay module is being closely watched by all actors who have home productions.

Sendhil Ramamurthy in bollywood
A few days ago, we had informed you about Tusshar Kapoor having signed Shor - an edgy thriller produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (who earlier this year directed 99). Now the makers have gone ahead and signed popular Hollywood actor of Indian origin Sendhil Ramamurthy for an important part in the film. Fans of the super-hit sci-fi T.V. series Heroes may recognize Sendhil as Prof. Dr.Mohinder Suresh the geneticist of Indian origin who plays a pivotal part in the cult T.V. show.
Shor would have three parallel stories running and Sendhil would be part of one of them. Besides Tusshar and Sendhil, the film has an ensemble cast comprising mostly of theatre actors. Shooting of the film begins in mid-January 2010.

12 British-Asian actors to join Akshay Kumar
Nikhil Advani's film Patiala House on cross-generation cultural assimilation among the Sikh community of Great Briton is getting more and more seriously authentic. Now, Nikhil has hired 12 professional young British-Asian actors who joined Akshay Kumar for the long schedule in Mumbai this month. They will play the third generation of Sikhs in Britain.
Some time ago, Nikhil flew to London to shoot scenes in the much-revered Southall Gurdwara and to meet Sikh elders there. Cameras are not allowed in the Gurudwara. But once the Southall Gurudwara committees heard the idea behind Patiala House and that two of the most beloved Punjabi actors, Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar will feature in the saga, the Sikh elders of Southall were all for the project.
Says Nikhil, "They just threw open the doors of the Gurudwara and offered to help in every way to make Patiala House authentic. Many of the Sikh elders at the Gurudwara had lived through the infamous Southall racial riots of 1979, where my film is partially set. When I narrated my theme to them they had tears in their eyes. Patiala House is like old wounds being re-opened for them. But it's a story that must be told," says Advani.
Even while the set depicting the streets and homes from the Asia-centric Southall area of London are being constructed in Film City, director Nikhil Advani has managed to get visas for 12 young British Asian actors, chosen after auditioning nearly 60 candidates, to play third-generation Sikhs from a family in Southall. The director has been working on their visas and other details for the last many months. "There are 7 boys and 5 girls all between the ages of 16 and 30. We deliberately kept the lower age-limit at 16 because any younger British -Asian actors would've meant special permissions and visas for parents. Out there, they are very particular about the permissible age for working."
Nikhil has been at the job to the minutest details. "All the details of their schedules have been worked out. Their hotel accommodations, transport, dinner engagements, etc. They started shooting on 21st December and keep shooting right up to 4 February."
At heart, says Nikhil, Patiala House is a father-son story. "Like Billy Elliott, where the father is a coal miner but the son wants to be dancer. In my film, Rishi Kapoor feels his dreams as a Sikh immigrant in England are being destroyed by his son. But the son Akshay Kumar has his own dreams to pursue."
The director fears the minute people hear Akshay plays a Sardarji, they will presume Patiala House is another Singh Is Kinng. "But my film has nothing in common with Singh Is Kinng. Akshay is a Sardar. But a mona Sardar."

UTV denies 50 crores with Ranbir Kapoor
UTV has issued a statement to this writer, which is being reproduced verbatim:
"We would like to place on record that we categorically deny a false and speculative article that appeared in today's DNA edition on the front page titled "Has Ranbir bagged a Rs. 50 cr. deal?"
A) We had denied this news to the reporter of this story and we again wish to reiterate that UTV officially denies all such rumors about having a 3-film deal at the specified amount with Ranbir Kapoor.
B) We are proud to be working with Ranbir on RAAJNEETI and we enjoyed working with him on WAKE UP SID, and we look forward to working with him on many more films in the years to come, but we categorically deny being in any discussion for any multiple movie deal whatsoever and the article and the amounts mentioned are completely false.
C) We consider the article damaging to our company and our shareholders and damaging to the industry to project such unwarranted hype. We consider this irresponsible journalism for a story that has been categorically been denied to be carried on the front page of a leading newspaper.

3 Idiots fabulous in overseas
Not only is the Rajkumar Hirani directed 3 IDIOTS setting the Indian box-office on fire, it is equally impressive in the Overseas circuit as well. As per the numbers available, the Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor starrer has grossed £425,000 in the UK, with an impressive print average of over £8,000. The film has also grossed a very impressive $2,149,227 in the US, with a big print average of $18,060. Reportedly, 3 IDIOTS has done exceptionally well in Australia.
What must be kept in mind is that unlike the usual 3-day weekend in the US and UK, the numbers are for a 5-day weekend, as 3 IDIOTS released on Wednesday the 23rd of December in both the markets.

Lara Dutta dated Tiger Woods
An old rumour dating back to June 2001, is raising its head again and is likely to bring unwanted attention to Bollywood hottie Lara Dutta who is already under media glare for her new relationship with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi.
The story goes that way back in 2001, a year after India had two beauty pageant winners in Lara Dutta at the Miss Universe and Priyanka Chopra at Miss World, Golf Ace Tiger Woods was dating one of them. The rumour was that our Lara Dutta, who was reportedly dating New York Yankees baseballer Derek Jeter, had also caught the eye of the greatest golfer in the world.
A US newspaper, in a story on Tiger, had the champion golfer denying he was dating “Miss Universe Lara Dutta of India — or trying to steal her from New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.” The Woods Foundation people, in fact, dismissed the story as being “Nothing more than gossip, probably put out by Dutta’s camp.” And Lara came back to India and fame in Bollywood.
But now that skeletons are tumbling out of Tiger’s woodwork, the gossip that he may have actually dated one of our Indian beauty queens is again gaining momentum. Suddenly Tiger’s denials that were taken very seriously eight years ago are now being re-examined. After all, he has turned out to be quite a champ off the greens. And has swung his club around in every direction!

3 Idiots gross 100 crores in 4 days
Reliance Big Pictures which released 3 IDIOTS in 2126 screens worldwide including 366 screens overseas-the widest release for any Indian film so far - has reported unprecedented box-office response from all over. The film has set new records in ticket sales in towns and cities across the world. In just 4 days the film has grossed over an astounding Rs 100 crores worldwide. The film continues to draw record crowds and is setting new benchmarks for Bollywood films.
Inspired from Chetan Bhagat's novel, 'Five Point Someone' the film chronicles the tale of three friends together in an engineering college. What seem to have touched the right chord in people's heart are the witty writing and terrific acting and the incisive look which the film takes at the education system in India. Shot on location the film has caught the audience's imagination like never before. From a small town like Wardha to a city like Chandigarh, from Mumbai to Delhi and from New York to Sydney theatres have reported record-breaking collections. The film which has also been critically acclaimed has already begun attracting repeat audiences. Said a college student coming out of a suburban multiplex in Ahmedabad that "she was coming back again tomorrow with her family to watch the film'.
Commenting on the huge success of the film Producer Vinod Chopra said,' Response has been overwhelming from all over the world. Aamir, Raju and I knew from the responses earlier on that people liked the film but this is something else... We have got reports from places like Australia that they have reduced 'AVATAR' shows and increased ours,' said Chopra in a statement.
3 IDIOTS is the highest grossing Hindi film ever in Australia on its opening weekend. Similarly in the US, I have been given to understand that 3 IDIOTS would be highest ever for a Hindi film,' he added.
An Indian trade journal that tracks box office performance commented 'Bollywood should be dancing, singing, rejoicing, shedding tears of joy... 3 IDIOTS has come like a tornado to smash box-office records and create new ones which may not be broken easily, at least in the immediate future.'
Amit Khanna, Chairman of Reliance Big Entertainment said, 'We are privileged to have been associated with 3 IDIOTS and its immensely talented team led by Vinod, Amir and Raju. The ramp-up to Rs. 100 crores in 4 days is phenomenal and are confident that the film will continue to blaze new records in the weeks to come'

Sussane Khan monitoring Hrithik
After all the hoo-ha about Hrithik Roshan’s clandestine affair with his Kites co-star Barbara Mori, the actor’s wife Sussanne Roshan is rumoured to be keeping a close eye on her dear hubby.
The B-town buzz is that Sussanne’s presence on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzaarish increased after she learnt of a steamy lovemaking scene to be filmed on Hrithik and sexy model Monikangana Dutta who is making her debut in the movie.
In fact, when Hrithik was shooting in Goa, Sussanne went all the way to be with him. Why? Outwardly, she seems like a wife rushing to spend quality time with her busy hubby. But there’s a rumour that Sussanne wants to make a point to Monikangana - to keep off her hubby.
Put off by Sussanne’s regular presence, Monikangana is learnt to have expressed her misgivings about the love scene with Hrithik to Bhansali and asked the director to excuse her from it.
But knowing well how uncompromising Bhansali could get while shooting his films, Hrithik and Monikangana may have to indulge in passion play on camera. Chances are that Sussanne will be present at the shoot.

To begin with Katrina, currently holidaying in London, has devoured the three of the four books in the Twilight series - ‘Twilight’, ‘New Moon’, ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’ -in less than four days and is on her way to finish the fourth one as well.
Now, Kat claims she can’t get Pattinson out of her head.
“This is like an obsession for me. I can’t get Robert Pattinson out of my head…I’ve never felt this way about any man before,” Katrina is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Reports say a formal meeting between Katrina and Pattinson is being planned by her representatives. In fact, Katrina seems to be hoping for an affair with the Hollywood heartthrob because she said: “He says he’s single. But I don’t believe him. That’s what they all say.”

Akshay Great Experience in Toronto
Although a Candian land-preservation group tried to stop Akshay Kumar’s Olympian sprint in Toronto on Thursday evening, no power on earth could take away the exhilaration of the moment from Akshay.
His joy at representing the country with such a singular honour has now multiplied. After Akshay carried the torch at one of the most well-attended street events in Toronto, the Olympics committee in all their wisdom, decided to gift the Olympian torch to the Khiladi star.
Unable to contain his excitement at the honour, Akshay on his return to Mumbai on Sunday morning said, “Carrying the torch across the longest street in the world was the greatest honour I could hope for. But when after the event the Olympics committee gifted me the torch I almost broke down. My first thought was for my son Aarav, who would now be able to keep that precious torch with him for a few days. My second thought was, will I carry it back to Mumbai safe and sound?"
At the Toronto airport, the authorities were excited by the very unusual cabin luggage that Akshay had brought with him. “They didn’t even check the torch! I was just asked to proceed with it.” Throughout the long trip from Toronto to Mumbai, Akshay clutched the torch in his hands as he sat thinking of what to do with the precious possession.
“It was during the long flight that I decided what to do with the torch. I’ll be auctioning it and use the noney to help the children who participate in the Special Olympics.”
Reliving the golden moments when he carried the torch in Toronto on Thursday evening, Akshay says, “About 7-8,000 Indians including those who had come from other cities like Montreal and Vancouver lined both the sides of Yonge Street which is the longest street in the world. I started at 7.30. But people had already gathered by 5 pm. I covered about ½ a mile in 20 minutes. I can only tell you, it was the most exciting and magical moment of my existence.”
Akshay’s spirits were not dampened by a group calling itself the Torch Extinguishing Committee. Says Akshay, “I don’t know whose torch they came to extinguish. It was certainly not mine. I heard they were around somewhere on that street. Like I told you it’s the longest street in the world. I completed my sprint without obstruction. I could hear people shouting, ‘Spoil-sports, spoil-sports!’ against these protestors. I’m sure they were protesting for a worthy cause. But why dilute sports by bringing politics into it?”

Ranbir chooses Deepika over Katrina
Will he get back together with Deepika Padukone, we had asked Ranbir
Ranbir Kapoor recently?
"I hope so," he had replied with a smile (Ranbir Wants Deepika Back, Mumbai Mirror, December 4). Encouraged by the ice that broke between the once-madly-inlove couple at a party recently (Mumbai Mirror, December 21, Table Manners), Ranbir has now decided to get his plan of getting back with Deepika in action. Ranbir has started distancing himself from Katrina Kaif, his Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti co-star, with whom he had got 'very friendly'. He has reduced his interaction with Katrina. Earlier, he would message Katrina frequently, but of late, it is less frequent. The bonhomie, camaraderie and whatever he shared with Katrina seems to be over.
A source says, "Ranbir is seriously considering getting back with Deepika. After he got talking to her at a recent party hosted by Maheep Kapoor and Nandita Mahtani, his desire to revive his relationship with Deepika has intensified."
Explaining why he needs to take a few steps back in his 'friendship' with Katrina, the source adds, "Deepika cannot stand the sight of Katrina. Distancing himself from Katrina will only facilitate his getting closer to Deepika."
Although the two girls have never worked together, there is a strong undercurrent of stress and discomfort, whenever they come face-to-face. In a TV interview, Deepika had candidly admitted to feeling insecure about her relationship with Ranbir, when rumours about his affinity for Katrina broke out. It may be recalled that she had even visited her then boyfriend while he was shooting for Raajneeti with Katrina in Bhopal and stayed there for 12 days.
Ranbir's sudden aloofness towards Katrina, is taking a toll on the actress. "Katrina has been very upset about the recent turn of events," says the source.

Resul Pokutty's office damaged by fire
An inferno destroyed Resul Pookutty's office, which is on the fifth floor of Dilkap Chambers at Veera Desai road in Andheri. Although there weren't any casualties or injuries, the fire charred almost all equipment and property.
According to the staff members, who were on the premises, the fire broke out at around 2 pm on the second floor. Deputy Chief Fire officer Atmaram Shinde, said, "The blaze started from Oval Village Film Private Ltd.'s office which is on the second floor of the ground plus seven storied building." There weren't any injuries as the office was shut for the day. The fire then spread through the building and charred Resul's office, which is on the fifth floor.
The fire was so intense that four fire engines and three water tankers had to be called in. The workers said that the fire brigade reached the location two hours after the fire broke out. Deputy Chief Fire officer, Ramesh Kholkhumbe denied this and said, "We received a message at around three in the afternoon at Andheri fire station. There were around 70 to 80 people on the second floor. They were evacuated without any injuries. We are still investigating the reason for the fire."
According to fire officers, some problems were encountered in putting out the blaze due to the ventilation system.

My Name is Khan can't compete at Berlin Festival
With the good news comes the bad news as well. The good news is that Fox Star Studios, international partners on My Name Is Khan, has decided to premiere the film at the 60th Berlin Film Festival in February 2010, in the most prestigious Competition section.
However, the bad news is that they have not allowed the film to compete with other films in the section. The reason for the same is unknown.
Karan doesn’t deny the news but pooh-poohs the belief that the global corporates are trying to bully him into submission. He says, “Yes, the decision to place our film in the Competition section without competing was taken entirely by Fox Star. Shah Rukh and I are completely one with it. We are just happy to be in the same section as the new films by Martin Scorsese and Roman Polanski. Fox Star has been on the same page as me from the start. Shah Rukh, Kajol and I are getting ready for Berlin. It will be the first full-fledged screening of our film. We are anxious to see how the global audience at Berlin reacts to it.”
According to sources, Fox Star has grown progressively wary of the 9/11 angle in cinema and has asked Karan to tone it down as far as possible. Apparently, the filmmaker was asked to change the trailer for the premiere of My Name Is Khan (unveiled last week) so that overt references to terrorism are done away with. Karan was also asked to stress on the fact that the film is not about 9/11 and terrorism. Karan dismisses the news. He says, “Fox Star knew exactly what My Name Is Khan is about. It’s a fact that the film is not about terrorism. Yes, 9/11 does form a background to the tale, but the film is a love story and a story of humanism under pressure.”
Apparently, there is also a fear that Shah Rukh Khan’s smaller-than-life role as an autistic Muslim, fighting injustice in the US may not go down well with his fans. Karan laughs at the rumours. He says, “That is such an erroneous interpretation of Shah Rukh’s character. He plays a man with a disability who can see the world around him far more clearly than the so-called normal people. He is a superman with a soul pure enough to fly. No, I don’t think his fans would be disappointed just because he isn’t larger-thanlife in Khan. Shah Rukh’s fans all over the world want to see him in roles that connect the reality of cinema with the reality of the world outside the theatre.”
Vijay Singh, CEO, Star Fox Studios, also insists that the film is not about terrorism. He says, “My Name Is Khan is a love story and Shah Rukh Khan’s character’s journey to win back his love. It has nothing to do with terrorism.”

Salman looks at Shahrukh
The buzz of anticipation as Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the premiere of 3 Idiots was nearly as loud as the buzz of appreciation for Aamir Khan’s
Salman and SRK Aamir Khan's latest turn.
For, the drama his turning up promised could be as much fun as the movie playing on the screens inside IMAX, Wadala.
SRK’s bête noire Salman Khan had arrived well in time for the movie to begin and the waiting media and star-gazers turned away disappointed when there seemed to be no sign of Shah Rukh Khan, while hosts for the evening no doubt heaved a sigh of relief.
The last time SRK and Sallu met - at Katrina Kaif’s birthday - the birthday girl had been utterly sidelined in the furious exchange of words between the two superstars, and Aamir Khan had spent the night running the short distance between Salman’s house Galaxy Apartments and SRK’s home Mannat, playing peacemaker.
But never one to back out of awkward situations, Shah Rukh arrived minutes before the film ended and was greeted by Aamir.
Just as Shah Rukh moved to talk to director Kunal Kohli, the show got over and out came Salman Khan. He spied Shah Rukh chatting away and gave him the full benefit of the famous Sallu I-wanna-knock-your-teeth glare. He stared long and hard forcing SRK to turn in his direction, but just then, Aamir said something to Salman, forcing him into a conversation.
By this time, other guests too had swarmed into the area forcing their bodyguards to lead the two stars away and out. Separately.

Ishqiya goes down well with the Censors now
Vishal Bhardwaj's production venture "Ishqiya" faced the censor board's ire for using the word 'sex' in its promos. But the ban has been lifted, giving respite to the producers.
The film has a scene where actor Arshad Warsi uses the three letter word, but it did not go down very well with the censor board.
Bhardwaj and his co-producers managed to convince the board members that the word was needed, and they finally gave their nod.
"It was initially decided that the word would be beeped and we gave an application for it to the revising committee, that comprises six-seven members. We had to convince them and make them understand that the word is essential for the film and the dialogue," Mansi Maroo, co-producer of the film, told IANS on phone from Mumbai.
With the censor board's approval, the producers will re-launch the promos with the word audible.
"The dialogue lost its impact because of the 'beep' and now our whole plan has been delayed. In order to rectify things, we will have to re-do the scene and launch another promo with the word audible," she said.
Asked if Bhardwaj too accompanied the other producers to the meeting with the censor board, Maroo added: "Vishal did not go for the meeting but he did have talks with the censor board people."
Set in eastern Uttar Pradesh, "Ishqiya" is a tale of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion and deceit. Directed by debutant Abhishek Chaubey, the film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya balan in pivotal roles.
Maroo also revealed that such procedures create hindrance in the film's promotion. "We have lost two-weeks of right promotion. However, we are glad that finally we were heard and our job was done," she added. IANS tried to contact censor board chief Sharmila Tagore, but she was not available. Ishqiya is slated to release Jan 29.

Shahid promoting "Chance Pe Dance" in a unique way
If Aamir Khan can put on a guise and travel through India for two weeks to promote his movie 3 Idiots, why can’t Shahid Kapoor live in a car for two days?
Well that’s the question that has obviously popped up in the creative heads chalking out the promotional strategy of Ken Ghosh’s film Chance Pe Dance in which Shahid plays a character who lives in a car during his struggling days as a dancer.
According to a source, the marketing whizzes at UTV Motion Pictures - the presenters of ‘Chance Pe Dance’ - are doing brainstorming sessions to come up with a unique way of promoting the film. The old ways of promoting films through billboards, theatrical promos and even star appearances at multiplexes are increasingly losing the edge over innovative ways.
We learn that UTV is seriously considering the idea of making Shahid live inside a car for two days. The actor will only step out to answer nature’s calls. However, discussions yet need to be done with Shahid to give a final go-ahead to this plan.
‘Chance Pe Dance’ is a musical starring Shahid as a dance lover. Genelia D’Souza is paired with him in the flick.

Ranbir Kapoor sings for his PEHLA song
Ranbir is finally giving singing a try. On Wednesday night, he sang his first song for director Siddharth Anand’s movie Anjaana Anjaani.
The number, set to a tune by Vishal-Shekhar duo, is not a full-fledged song but a short ditty that Ranbir sings in a scene in the film.
There is a sequence in ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ where Ranbir and Priyanka are jaywalking in an American megapolis and he breaks into a song with a music band beside him. Siddharth Anand says Ranbir was aware that he would need to sing for the scene when he first read the script.
However, neither Anand nor the music composer duo had realized that Ranbir would record the song with such ease as he showed on Wednesday night at Vishal-Shekhar’s recording studio. The actor recorded the song within forty-five minutes. Not just that, he also improvised as he crooned.
Now, Anand is persuading Priyanka Chopra (Ranbir’s heroine in the film) to record her portion of the song as well.

Sushmita Sen holds down her project
Sushmita Sen had ambitious plans of diversifying into film production. In fact, the talented actress had decided to make a film on Rani Laxmibai and had approached Salman Khan to star and Shekhar Kapur to direct the film. What happened?
"Salman said he'd allot dates after VEER. He didn't want to shoot two period films simultaneously. As for Shekhar, the moment he heard me out, he said that that I was more qualified to direct the film since I had worked too minutely on the script," Sushmita informs me.
Sushmita says that if she ever plans to direct a film, it would be on the life of Rani Laxmibai. "We did thorough research on the subject. But I've decided to keep my film production plans on hold for the time being and concentrate on acting completely," she divulges.

Rajneeti trailer won't show with 3 Idiots
Long before the days of massive promotional campaigns and media appearances for film publicity, was the humble film trailer. Audiences retained their seats during the interval, awaiting the first look of the next blockbuster. And thus, a to-be-released film piggybacked on the one showing. All well and good.
Prakash Jha's much awaited multi-starrer Rajneeti's trailer was all set to be unveiled with 3 Idiots, which was one of the highlights of this week. However, reports now suggest that, in an apparent flip flop, the producers of 3 Idiots have decided against carrying the Rajneeti theatrical.
A spokesperson from Rajneeti's producers confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the film promo will not be a part of the 3 Idiots prints which are being dispatched across the country. "Yes, it was communicated to us yesterday that the promo of Rajneeti will not be carried along with the Indian prints of 3 Idiots as planned before. But the overseas prints might have it." The reason being that the overseas prints have already been dispatched.
When contacted, producers of 3 Idiots were unavailable for comment.

Katrina Kaif celebrates Christmas in London
The healing process after her surgery last week is yet not even half-complete. But Katrina Kaif, recovering quietly from surgery at her Mumbai home, stubbornly decided to go and join her family in London for the annual Christmas-New Year vacation which she had promised herself for months now.
Katrina flew out of Mumbai early Wednesday morning after getting a reluctant go-ahead from her doctors at Breach Candy hospital.
Wincing in pain she said a few hours before departure, "The pain will remain for a while. But the process of healing is on. I got my doctor's consent in Mumbai and I've another doctor in London who's fully aware of my condition. The doctors said the pain will be the same in Mumbai or London. And as long as I'm very careful about not exerting myself I'll be fine. So I'm off."
Katrina had gone into a depression earlier during the week when she felt she wouldn't be able to join her sisters and brother in London because of her medical condition.
On Tuesday after visiting the doctors Katrina and her mother took a decision. Said Katrina, "I can't exert myself, can't dance around or be boisterous. But that's okay. Because our family is in any case not the dancing type. I just want to be with my sister's little boy, take him to the toy stores in London and buy him everything he wants."
Katrina returns to Mumbai in the first week of January, hopefully fully healed. "Luckily I've a doctor in London who knows how to look after me. So basically I'm just moving into a happier state of mind by being close to the people I love. That would help me heal quicker... Wish me luck."

Shahrukh and Farah becomes friends again
Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan have put a decisive end to the newly cropped friction between their once seemingly crack-resistant friendship.
The crack, in case you don’t know, appeared after Farah announced her mega-budget movie Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar, and not with SRK, who’s been part of every film she’s directed so far.
SRK was learnt to be unhappy about this obvious snub from Farah and the two were not even on talking terms lately.
Finally, it was SRK who reportedly took the initiative of calling a truce. His company Red Chillies Entertainment called up Farah a few days back and asked her to direct a TV commercial for them.
Farah obviously said yes and that triggered the thawing of the chill between her and SRK. Last week, Farah even made a visit to SRK’s house with her three kids.
Well, let’s sign off by rattling out another trite cliché - all’s well that ends well.

Sushmita Sen adopts again!
The grape vine was rife with speculation that Sushmita Sen had or rather would be adopting her second child. However, with no confirmation from any front, these pieces of drift news faded into oblivion.
However, last night at the press conference held for her upcoming film Dulha Mil Gaya, Sush confirmed that she has adopted another baby girl on November 19 this year, which also happens to be the actress' birthday. The doting mother has since christened the 3-month-old girl as Alisha.
With this, Sushmita has definitely put to rest all those prying questions and the rumour mills.

"Pyaar Impossible" is not a classic
Priyanka Chopra says "Pyaar Impossible" is one of the sweetest and simplest films she's done. And she doesn't want people going in for the movie expecting a classic like "Mughal-e-Azam".
"Please don't look for any complications in 'Pyaar Impossible' because there aren't any," Priyanka told IANS.
She has essayed a complex character in "Fashion" and 12 roles in "What's Your Raashee?" and that's why Priyanka wants to make it clear that her next is just a breezy romantic comedy.
"It's not necessary that all love stories have to be complicated. So many times it is the simplicity factor that comes out trumps and 'Pyaar Impossible' is one such film."
"Please don't start hunting for a classic tale a la 'Mughal-e-Azam' here because that was never the intent," Priyanka said.
"We wanted to make a feel good fun film that can be identified by the teens and youth and tells their story while keeping the entertainment value intact. One should just enter the theatre with a bag full of popcorn and enjoy those couple of hours," she added.
She is paired opposite Uday Chopra, for whom "Pyaar Impossible" is a comeback of sorts. The actor, who made his debut nine years ago with "Mohabbatein" (2000), was last seen in "Dhoom 2" (2006).
"Pyaar Impossible" is produced by him under the Yash Raj Films banner and directed by Jugal Hansraj.
'Pyaar Impossible' is the story of a geek called Abhay (Uday), who falls in love with the most beautiful girl in the campus, Alisha (Priyanka). While most people believe this love story would be impossible, some also wonder if fate would get the two together and if this 'pyaar' would indeed turn out to be 'possible'.
"That's where the real sweet elements about the film come in because the girl truly believes that geek or no geek; it's the intrinsic good qualities of one's own self that make people fall in love with you. On the other hand, the boy believes that good looks do matter. This is what kick starts the entire point of view of possibility of love in contrasting individuals," Priyanka explained.
This is why she is particularly fond of the title song where she is dressed as a geek in a manner similar to that of Uday's character in the film. With spectacles on, unkempt hair, loose T-Shirt and baggy shorts, she follows the geek look to the T, as instructed by Uday who challenges her that she can never find a guy looking like a geek.
"I take this challenge while being quite sure that men would look deeper into me than just the looks. All of this is conveyed through the title song which has been picturised in such a sweet manner. Do I eventually get a guy for myself? Well, watch out for that in the film," she said.
Also starring Dino Morea in a special appearance along with Anupam Kher, "Pyaar Impossible" is set to release in January.

I didn't stay at Saraswati Hotel: Aamir Khan
Bollywood star Aamir Khan Sunday clarified that he did not stay at the Saraswati hotel in Varanasi in disguise and it was only his crew members who put up there.
His revelation came after the hotel owner was charged by the state police for violating the identity verification rules for guests.
"I heard the news and felt very bad. I was not staying at the hotel, although I won't share where I was staying, it's a secret. It's for the authorities to find out where I was staying," he told Star News in an interview.
"It was not the fault of the hotel owner as he assumed that I was there after meeting my crew members," he said, adding he wanted the hotel authorities to be exonerated. "I am a strong advocate of taking care of security concerns, and hotels must check the identity of each and every one staying in their hotels," he added.
The Uttar Pradesh police Wednesday said that Aamir Khan checked into Hotel Saraswati in Mughal Sarai area of Varanasi Dec 10 along with nine other people. They checked out Dec 13. Aamir Khan had reportedly booked the room in the name of someone else. In all, seven rooms were booked in the name of "Akram Shah and party".
The police said that the hotel did not follow government directives on verification of the identity of every hotel guest and, therefore, the owner is liable to give an explanation or else he would lose his licence. However, Aamir was spared by the administration. "Aamir is not to blame and it was the duty of the hotel management to have the correct name of the guests in their records," police said.
The actor had gone to the Hindu holy city to search for his roots - his mother hailed from Varanasi. Aamir did manage to trace his family connections and visited some relatives living in the city.

Rakhi Wants Another Swayamvar
Rakhi Sawant is desperate and, given a chance, she can have another swayamvar. The lady recently revealed this to a daily.
Love or marriage, the lady is hopeful to get her man of dreams after she dumped Elesh Parujanwala, whom she selected from her swayamvar. He is not the kind with whom she would love to spend her life. “Elesh was not honest. He was bankrupt and loved going to nightclubs. He told me all this after our engagement. I am not the type to accept it,” Rakhi is quoted as saying.
In fact, according to Rakhi, Elesh’s family never considered her as a bahu and they never bothered to call her during the days she was seeing Elesh, nor did they give her “shagun”.
In fact, she is happy with her decision to break up with Elesh. According to her, “Wahan pe saare kangle the (All of them were broke there).”
So after all this, Rakhi has made her mind. “If I get another chance I will have another swayamvar.” And this time it will be her family who will help her to take the ‘right decision’.

Aamir Khan At Punjabi Wedding
Traveling incognito throughout India on a two-week adventure trip to promote his upcoming film 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan landed in Punjab's border district of Faridkot to attend a wedding.
However, the actor was disguised as a hippie-looking foreigner who had told the folks in Churchak village near Jagraon that he wanted to film a rural wedding.
“Some people approached us a few days back that someone wanted to shoot a rural wedding. That person came as a commoner and was treated as any other guest. Only later we were told that he is Aamir Khan,” Jasvir Singh, a farmer and landlord in the village, is quoted as saying by a news agency.
The most pleasantly shocked by Aamir’s presence at the wedding was the bride Ramandeep Kaur, for Aamir attended the pre-wedding celebrations in her village. He even gifted a ring to Kaur after the 'Mehendi' ceremony. Aamir also sang and danced with men and women at the wedding.
“Aamir Khan came to the wedding functions. Initially, we were told that he was a documentary maker. When his real identity was revealed, there was even greater joy and excitement in the household and the entire village,” the bride’s father Jasvir Singh told a news agency.
The wedding took place on Sunday and Aamir left for another undisclosed location after inviting the newly weds to the Mumbai premiere of ‘3 Idiots’ later this week.

Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Reunion
People’s paths often cross in a close knit industry like Bollywood. No harm in that as long as two people aren’t ex lovers no longer on talking terms with each other.
Well, Aishwarya Rai has had two encounters with as many ex beaus in a span of few days. On December 17, she found herself face to face with Salman Khan while shooting at a Mumbai studio. Now, on Saturday, she was seated just an arm’s distance away from Vivek Oberoi at a Mumbai police event named ‘Jashn 2010-Dhamaka Bollywood Ka’.
Ash was seated in the first row at the function. Shockingly, the organizers had placed Vivek’s seat very close to Ash. There was only one seat between the two. Vivek was obviously hesitant to sit there, but relented after persuasion by the organizers.
On top of it, Manish Malhotra, who was supposed to be seated between Ash and Vivek wasn’t on his seat. So when Vivek took his seat, there was an evident discomfort between Ash and him.
We hear that Ash even looked at Vivek for a split second. Vivek too turned and looked at her. Both of them were uncomfortable. But the drama didn’t last long. Manish Malhotra, who had perhaps sensed their discomfort, rushed back to his seat. Vivek still wasn’t comfortable, after a few minutes he left his seat.

Salman-Aishwarya Almost Reunite
Oops! After steering clear of each other’s paths for many years, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai coincidentally bumped into each other earlier this week.
The ex flames are quite deft at looking through each other, but this time neither anticipated the close encounter that happened in Mehboob Studios where Ash was shooting director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzaarish and Salman was filming the promos of his upcoming film Veer.
They bumped into each other when Salman was stepping out of his car, chatting with someone on phone, while Ash was walking towards her vanity van. According to eye-witnesses, the two did look at each other and froze in their tracks for a moment.
No words were exchanged. No hello or hi.
Ash immediately stepped into her vanity van while Salman continued talking on the phone. The duo appeared to make a light of the incident.
However, Salman was unusually quiet on the sets after the incident. He just focused on the shoot.

Katrina Kaif Cured For What Disease?
On Wednesday, Katrina Kaif was admitted to a South Mumbai hospital. As everyone in bollywood knows, Katrina has not been so well as she has been skipping events due to her health. Katrina Kaif was diagnosed with ‘chocolate cyst of ovary’ for which she underwent an hour-long surgery. After several tests, the doctors attending on her identified the cause of her persisting illness as endometrioma, for which she was operated.
Katrina was admitted to a South Mumbai hospital and was operated on Wednesday morning. A source reveals, “Katrina had an operation on Wednesday morning and the surgery went on for an hour. It is a one-time surgery and there are no after-effects. She is fine now and has been advised rest for two days. She will be discharged today evening and can return to work after that.”

Ranbir and Priyanka kiss in Anjaana Anjaani
Anjaana Anjaani they may have been at the start of director Siddharth Anand’s movie of the same title, but Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra did whip up before camera a crackling chemistry that has the director raving about the duo.
Now, we hear the two stars have gone beyond their friendly bonhomie. They have locked their lips for a romantic scene in the film while shooting in Bangkok. Since ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ is a film by Siddharth Anand, who made Ranbir kiss all the three ladies of his previous film Bachna Ae Haseeno, the unit-members expected a kiss between Ranbir and Priyanka too.
And the buzz is that the kiss did happen and turned out to be quite a smacking smooch!
Siddharth, however, isn’t done yet. We hear he wants the lead pair to kiss one more time during the upcoming schedule in the US. Crucial romantic scenes will be shot in New York and Las Vegas during Christmas and New Year, and it won’t be surprising if Ranbir and Priyanka smooch again on this schedule.

My Name Is Khan Is Not A Terrorist Film
With the unveiling of the first trailer of the film on Wednesday, Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar have got everyone talking about My Name Is Khan, due for release on February 12 next year.
At the unveiling event at JW Marriot Hotel, SRK told reporters: “'My Name is Khan' is the nicest love story I have ever worked in. It is the physical and emotional journey, that the two characters Rizwan and Mandira go through to find love. The story is about hope, love and positivity.”
The film has SRK playing a Muslim character named Rizwan who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome. Kajol plays a single mother Mandira living in San Francisco.
“My Name is Khan has nothing to do with terrorism. It is not a terrorism-based plot at all. It is a humanitarian tale about love and sacrifice,” Karan clarified at the event.
In the movie, Rizwan is detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport after his disability is mistaken for 'suspicious' behaviour.
According to SRK, the movie marks Karan’s coming of age as a director and storyteller.
“I have worked with Karan in his first film and has been with him all through his journey. I think My Name Is Khan is his ultimate evolution…In this film, the way Karan has touched upon the scenes and sequences, it is very different from his all previous films,” SRK said.
Karan added that MNIK is about triumph of the human spirit.

"My Name Is Khan" promo out!
The promo of "My Name Is Khan" aired Wednesday all over Star Channels worldwide. My Name Is Khan and I am not a terrorist...this line from the First Look promo of Shahrukh-Kajol propelled 'My Name Is Khan' hits you with an incredible force that sends shivers of goose pimples within. Obviously the paramount question is that whether the SRK-Kajol chemistry works magic again. Yes, it does...Big Time. It seems the duo are meant to fall in love and transmit that love-electricity on celluloid to millions of people across the world.
MNIK promo successfully opens a window to what the basic story is, whips up an engaging drama and leaves you panting for more. Rizwan's (Shahrukh) disability is blanketed by Mandira's (Kajol) overwhelmingly deep affection. How 9/11 changes lives forever and for some strange innocent reason Rizwan wants to meet up with the President Of America. There's a strong resistance and guns blaze on the roads of suspicion.
There are two significant lines that stay with you when the promo is over. First one is: He believed that if you do good deeds...good things will happen to you. And the second is: We are stronger than our fears. It seems that the Writing will be the strong point of 'My Name Is Khan' and undoubtedly Karan Johar is treading a territory that in all probability will enrich the Indian film industry.
The production design looks top notch, cinematography is world class and the look of both Shahrukh and Kajol is different from what we've seen them in before. There's a small section of a song 'Noor-e-Khuda' which comes at the beginning of the promo and it seems Shankar-Ehsan-Loy have redeemed themselves after an average 'London Dreams'. The background score sounds very engaging too.
Kajol's breakdown scene sends chills down your spine. What a volcano of a talent she is. Shahrukh's intense sincerity binds your attention from the first frame of the promo till its last. This may be the turning point in the career of Shahrukh Khan, the fantastic actor, who amazed earlier with magnificence in Chak De India.
It goes without saying that the First Look promo of 'My Name Is Khan' whets your appetite for the real thing. One of the finest First Look promos in recent times.

"Avatar' blows Shahrukh away
It’s the movie that has got the world talking. Director-producer James Cameron has raised the bar with his 3-D science fiction epic film Avatar which is set in 2154 AD on an Earth-sized planet called Pandora around Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to the Earth after the Sun.
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan saw the movie as a guest at a special screening in suburban Mumbai and was left speechless after the flick. So bowled over was he that he requested the Indian CEO of the film’s international distributor to hold another screening of the film for him and his kids and wife in the coming days.
The studio people plan to hold the second screening on Saturday, but the time and venue is yet to be finalized.
Shahrukh’s love for sci-fi isn’t secret. His production house is already in the process of making Ra.One, a sci-fi thriller starring SRK as a superhero.
‘Avatar’ releases in India on December 18.

Akshay Kumar attending Olympics in Toronto
Akshay Kumar’s packing his bags. The Khiladi leaves tonight for Toronto where he will be the only actor among 14 international celebrities to run with the XXI Winter Olympics torch on Thursday.
Akshay, who received the torch from Canadian Prime Minister Steve Harper in Mumbai last month, is the Indian ambassador at the Games which are slated to start on February 12, 2010. Over 80 nations participate in the Winter Olympics and the competition is held in eight sports including ice hockey, figure skating and Alpine skiing. India, which sent a four-member team to the last Games that were held in Turin, Italy, in 2006, came back with no medals for our efforts in the luge, cross-country skiing and Alpine skiing. Clearly, the country’s pride now is Akshay at Toronto!
The actor, when asked why he was chosen for this great sporting honour on an international platform like the Olympics, replied, “I definitely didn’t get nominated because of my cricket skills ... I may be a celebrity, but with great power comes even greater responsibility. I have put a lot of effort over the years supporting and being brand ambassador for the ‘Special Olympics’ in India. I would go to any lengths to promote sport in my country, my efforts have been appreciated worldwide, and I am touched that India shares my enthusiasm. To be honoured to carry the Olympic torch is so prestigious in every country, you can’t ask for this honour, you can only be recognised for your true love and dedication to children, to sport, to bettering your country’s involvement in the world. You can’t imagine how grateful I am. And how nervous as well!”

Salman Khan to star in Judwaa 2
Salman Khan is finally ready to play the quirky Raja and the sober Prem in the sequel to his 1997 hit Judwaa. The actor has given his nod to team up once again with director David Dhawan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for the sequel to the twin-comedy only after he was completely convinced with the script.
So far the idea of a sequel to Judwaa had been quelled mainly because the story ideas did not appeal to Salman. Now, David has finally come up with an idea that the team feels is worth pursuing.
Producer Sajid says, “We’ve been going back and forth with David on the story of Judwaa’s sequel for years. Since Judwaa released there have been innumerable films about twins and their adventures, so films about twin heroes had become stale. Before making Judwaa 2 we first had to make sure the plot not only went further than the first Judwaa but also goes beyond all the other double-role films that have come lately.”
Fact of the matter is that double roles have not been doing well lately. Sajid says, “We’ve gone back to the story board repeatedly to ensure Judwaa has very high novelty value.”
“David is working on giving Salman’s character a special new spin. We’ll give the two Salmans a very different look and the story moves ten years ahead but Salman is still as boyish as he used to be,” adds Sajid.
Judwaa 2 won’t feature either Karisma Kapoor or Rambha who were lead actresses in the first film.
But yes, Kareena Kapoor is being considered to star in the sequel.

What Rakhi Sawant is doing for Christmas
Tidings of comfort and joy begin the festive season. So what does it hold for our Rakhi Sawant who is now a staunch Christian?
Her ‘O Jeejuz!’ has more to do with her spiritual side than just an expression. So, as per reports, while Rakhi keeps sizzling on small screen, organizers of Mumbai’s biggest Christmas gathering have decided to ask her to read a few verses from the Bible on Christmas, as people from all over Mumbai will come to celebrate the birth of Christ - her newfound ‘Living God’.
Of late, Rakhi has also started attending church services. But still she has to confirm whether she will read from the holy scriptures on the Christmas day or not?

Rocket Singh begins slow
Just like film critics, masses are also going ga-ga over the film Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year. But on the first day of release, there were only a few takers for the film. ‘Rocket Singh’ witnessed a sleepy start at the box office.
The movie opened to a weak response of around 30-40% and evening shows were also dull, making only 50-55%. There wasn’t any difference on single screens too; the movie saw a low response. Collections were Rs 10.50 crore approx over the weekend. Talking about overseas business, it earned approx Rs 2.50 crore from all markets, comparatively a low-key affair.
However, since it’s a low-budget film, recovering production cost is not a big deal and, of course, the audience is loving Ranbir Kapoor as Rocket Singh.
Making you emotional and leaving you moist-eyed, Paa had a good first week, earning around Rs 16.50 crore nett. The film did very well this weekend while midweek collections were steady but not low. As proposed by trade analysts, the film can probably do Rs 25-30 crore nett lifetime business, the only condition is that its second week should be good.
Radio is a sure flop with very poor first week collection of around Rs 1.25 crore.
As the year comes to an end, everyone is waiting with bated breath for 3 Idiots on 25th December. Box office sure has a reason to smile.

Priyanka and Uday Promote Pyaar Impossible
Katrina Kaif Named Sexiest Asian Woman in The World
'Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the sexiest Asian girl of them all?' This is the question that UK's magazine Eastern Eye asked in a survey. And, not surprisingly, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has topped the annual World's Top 50 Sexiest Asian Women list once again, beating former beauty queens, models and established Bollywood actresses.
The list includes eight Indian actresses in the top 10 and Katrina is followed by Priyanka Chopra, Freida Pinto, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. British television star Laila Rouass and Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat are the other two in top 10.
Looks like for the Brits too, Katrina is No. 1!

Ken Ghosh and Shahid Fight OnSets of "Chance Pe Dance"
Ken Ghosh admits he had loud arguments with Shahid Kapoor on the sets during the shooting of Chance Pe Dance.
But it had to do with Shahid's suddenly-saturated schedules.
Says Ken, "For the first time in his career Shahid was doing three films at the same time-Kaminey, Dil Bole Hadippa and my film Chance Pe Dance. Naturally there was a conflict of interest."
Ken admits there were loud arguments over Shahid's schedules. "I'd ask for three days. He would have only one day to spare. I'd naturally be upset. Then understandably, Shahid wanted time off. He couldn't be seen on my set straight after shooting for one of the other two films. This naturally led to heated arguments. For me as a director it was okay to come on the sets without sleep. But Shahid had to catch up on his resting time. Or the dark circles would have shown on camera. And since Shahid is fair-complexioned those dark circles would be even more visible."
The last thing that Ken wanted was for his hero to fall ill. "Priyanka Chopra had to be hospitalized because of overwork and exhaustion. I didn't want Shahid to go through the same experience."
The effort has been worth it for both Shahid and Ken. "Shahid's dancing in Chance Pe Dance is the film's mainstay. But his performance is not just about dancing. Some of the things he has done with in the dramatic scenes took me by surprise. Shahid has brought subtle expressions into scenes which I didn't catch while shooting. Only during editing I realized what he had done."
Ken Ghosh who introduced Shahid Kapoor in Ishq Vishq five years ago admits the actor has changed. "Isn't change inevitable? We all evolve with time. Shahid is no exception."
So are the stories of a rift between the two true?
Ken doesn't deny the fact that there were heated arguments and fights during the making of Chance Pe Dance. "But they were all for the betterment of the film. See when Shahid did his first film Ishq Vishq with me he only had that film on hand and was able to give me his full attention."

Shahrukh Khan, A.R Rahman among 500 most influential muslims
Being one of the most successful stars in Bollywood brings with itself loads of accolades and awards. This time Shah Rukh Khan finds himself in the august company of former Indian President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and Oscar winning composer AR Rahman. The trio has been included in the list of 'The 500 most influential Muslims in the world' released by Georgetown University, USA.
The actor has been included in the 'Arts and Culture' segment of the list and has been lauded for "campaigning for better relations between India's Muslim and Hindu communities". The King Khan, though respectful of the honour, has no qualms in calling himself an Indian first. A mark of a true star, indeed!

Is Aamir Khan hiding?
Aamir Khan played a prank with the media today after the actor did not turn up despite being the top guest for the occasion. Aamir's disappearing act was seen as a gimmick to attract more attention to the film.
After the entire cast of 3 IDIOTS marked their presence at the event, the only person conspicuous by his absence was Aamir Khan. Though the actor never turned up, his video clip urged people to play hide and seek with him. Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra was the most animated in answering the missing actor. He said, "We all have no clue were Aamir is. Wherever he is, he is watching you."
The entire gathering was hoping against hope that the perfectionist will emerge out of somewhere. But like the title of the film, the gathered crowd returned disillusioned. Feeling idiotic in the end.
Many feel that Aamir is playing this hide and seek game as part of the marketing strategy. But where do we catch him to seek him is the big question. Any answers?

Sushmita and Kangana Shake Like Shakira
Sushmita Sen and Kangana Ranaut were game to shake their booty, that too like Shakira, for Anees Bazmee’s next No Problem.
The song, Shakira Jaisi Hile Lakhni is a hip-hop Punjabi track, and Pritam is quite a pro in composing these kind of masti numbers. And we all know how well the slim and fit Sushmita can groove to such foot-tapping tracks. Surprisingly, Kangana, who hardly dances for any song in her films, was also in full mood to do some jhatkas-matkas.
The song, an expensive number, was shot recently in Filmistan studio. In it, both Sushmita and Kangana will be seen draped in sexy sarees. If Sush chose a Rs 4 lakh Abu Jani creation, Kangs was happy to get a Suneet Verma saree worth Rs 3.5 lakhs.
The song is a star-studded affair and the entire cast from Anil Kapoor to Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor are there in it.

IIFA in Toronto 2011
Not next year, but the year after the next one, the 12th edition of the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) will be held in Toronto.
On Wednesday the members of the IIFA advisory board announced that IIFA 2011 will be held in greater Toronto from June 16-19. With the announcement, Toronto becomes the first North American city to host the glittering ceremony, which is held in a different world city each year.
The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) is normally a four day event comprising of a film festival, forums, conferences, fashion shows and, of course, the award function.
Amitabh Bachchan, the IIFA brand ambassador, wasn’t present at the announcement but Bollywood stars like Vivek Oberoi, Celina Jaitely and director-producer Ramesh Sippy joined the Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty who said in a statement said he was "thrilled" with the decision of the IIFA.
“With so many film buffs living in Ontario, Indian film stars and executives will feel right at home,” McGuinty said.
Mr. Bachchan also sent a message in which he said that he was “extremely excited that the North American premiere of the IIFA weekend of 2011 will be held in Ontario.”

Rocket Singh Movie Review
He won’t grease anybody’s palm to get a sales order for his company. He’s persuasive but doesn’t spiel to sell off goods. Worst of all, he’s honest and believes in doing things the right way. Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) isn’t cut out to be a salesman. No wonder he gets the rap from his boss after he botches up a deal and is scoffed at by his colleagues who keep flying paper-rockets at him to remind him that he’s a loser.
After scraping through his college with minimal marks, Harpreet is determined to make his mark as a salesman. Working as a trainee in a company called AYS, which sells computers, he soon finds himself relegated to a corner, snubbed by his colleagues, insulted by his boss. Staring at the possibility of a ruined career, Harpreet stashes his honesty aside, and, while keeping his job as a trainee, secretly begins his own small company Rocket Sales Corp on the side, and ropes in co-workers from AYS and builds a customer base using the resources of AYS. Smart strategy, you would say. But then, Harpreet’s secret is exposed and time comes for him to pay the piper.
Coming from the director-writer-producer team of Shimit Amin-Jaideep Sahni-Aditya Chopra that gave us the cult movie Chak De India, Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year is an eminently watchable film that, however, falls a wee bit short of expectations. Granted that Shimit’s eye for details is as sharp as ever, and Jaideep’s writing (story, screenplay and dialogues) as steeped in reality as one could hope, but there’s something lacking. It’s hard to stomach the fact that people in AYS would risk their well-secured jobs for a rag-tag company run by a rookie who’s been branded a ZERO by his boss. Secondly, Jaideep Sahni ought to have given more depth and fire to Ranbir’s character. As a viewer you don’t feel the spark of the high-flying Sikh hitting pay dirt after convincing his clients with his mere honesty and willingness to take big risks.
The fuel of ‘Rocket Singh’ is its myriad characters that drive the story. There’s a porn-junkie computer engineer (enacted superbly) who sits cheek by jowl to Harpreet in the office and later helps him in Rocket Corp. There’s a feisty receptionist (Gauhar Khan) with a dream of rising to managerial position. There’s a street-smart team-leader who grills Harpreet but later joins him. There’s a sneering boss who’s interested only in sales figures and numbers rather than people. There’s a peon who’s tired of taking insults from his bosses. And, of course, aside from this melee is the newbie Shazahn Padamsee who gets only three scenes with Ranbir.
Ranbir Kapoor plays his part well but doesn’t modulate his voice much. Though his exterior, his body language (how he dances and adjusts his turban like a true-blue Sikh) is bang on, when he speaks, you almost hear a Sid or Prem talking. Prem Chopra, playing his father, is delightful in just a few scenes. But it’s the terrific performances by the supporting cast that makes ‘Rocket Singh’ what it is. It’s an almost perfect cast ensemble put together by Shimit, Jaideep and Aditya. The only three songs in the film (Salim-Sulaiman) play out in the background and cinematography by Vikash Nowlakha is a treat to the eyes.
Kudos to Shimit for the finesse with which he brings realism to a heart-warming story laced with wit and humour by Jaideep Sahni. But how one wishes the trajectory of this Rocket did not dip in the second half; and how the final message (that people are more important than numbers) did not feel shoved down our throats.
‘Rocket Singh’ is good, but it could have been much better.
Tera Kya Hoga Johnny In English
Post the grand international success of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, Mumbai slums have become fashionable and popular visiting places for international audiences. Just how much so, Sudhir Mishra discovered when he took his long-delayed film on slum life Tera Kya Hoga Johnny (featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Soha Ali Khan, Shahana Goswami and Karan Nath along with a real street-child Sikandar) to New York's South Asian Film Festival held from October 28 to November 3.
At the festival American critics reacted to Sudhir Mishra's Tera Kya Hoga Johnny as another Slumdog Millionaire.
Now Sudhir will release the film in a dubbed English version. "After Slumdog Millionaire, the West is looking with much curiosity at the slum culture of Mumbai. I had no plans of doing an English version of Tera Kya Hoga Johnny. But everyone who saw it in New York suggested I do it. Every frame in my film has been shot in the lanes and gullies of South Mumbai in Colaba."
With Tutu Sharma now taking over as co-producer of Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, the film is all set for an early January 2010 release.
Thus ends the blame game whereby Neil Nitin Mukesh was being accused of trying to stall the film by not dubbing for it.
Defends Sudhir Mishra, "First of all most of the film is in sync sound. There was just about a day's dubbing to be done by Neil. He finished it long ago. Why blame the poor guy?"

Abhishek Does It For Papa
It was just a 4-hour visit to Dubai for Abhishek Bachchan on Wednesday (9 December).
But what the heck! Anything for Pa. And we do mean Pa with one 'a'. Abhishek air dashed to Dubai not for the screening of their film Paa, but to cheer his dad who received lifetime-achievement award at the Dubai International Film Festival on Wednesday.
Says a close friend of Abhishek, "It doesn't matter to Abhishek how many lifetime achievement awards his father gets. Each one is equally special. And he will make it a point to be present for each one."
Abhishek was shooting non-stop for Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelen Hum Jee Jaan Se in Goa. He took a day off from the premiere. And now for Dubai.
Says the friend, "Since Abhishek's flight to Dubai was from Mumbai, he first had to fly from Goa to Mumbai then to Dubai and back through the same route to join Ashutosh's crew in Goa on Thursday."
Abhishek was in Dubai for barely four hours, just long enough to see his father receive the life-time achievement. "I had to be there, that's it," says Abhishek.
The one member of the Bachchan family who has been burning the midnight oil for Paa is Abhishek. Even while shooting in Goa, he was overseeing all the premiere plans in Mumbai making sure the invitees were not left out.
Says Abhishek's friend, "Aishwarya was so busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, she just couldn't devote enough time to the Paa premiere preparation. Abhishek took charge from Goa, opened a makeshift AB Corp office in Goa."
The young actor now intends to take charge of the family's production plans fully. A number of new films from AB Corp Ltd are expected to be announced in the next few months.
And Abhishek will be the production company's visible face.

Priyanka Chopra Will Judge Miss World
Life has come a full circle for former Miss World Priyanka Chopra. On December 12, nine years after she picked up her own crown, PC will be on the beauty pageant podium in Johannesburg as a judge for the final round of this year’s Miss World contest.
“When Julia Morley, who is in charge of the beauty pageant, invited me to be a judge, I was ecstatic. There I was a teenager all those years ago, nervous as a help on the same platform. Now I’m going in a totally different capacity,” said Priyanka. The actress is happy she could work her busy shooting schedules around to accommodate this contest, which she considers a very prestigious one.
Back home, too, Priyanka is in a very happy place. Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and she are the top three Bollywood beauties who wield a certain power over the box office. Naturally, the best projects are divided between them. “This was a good year,” said the actress, “and hopefully 2010 will be as good if not better.”
She happily starts the year with Pyaar Impossible in January while also shooting with hotshot Ranbir Kapoor for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani and with Bollywood supremo Shah Rukh Khan for Farhan Akhtar’s Don-2. “Besides these films, I’m scheduled to do a film with my Kaminey director Vishal Bharadwaj,” said the dusky beauty.
The low point of 2009 was when she cried herself to sleep after Ashutosh Gowarikar’s What’s Your Rashee came unstuck at the box office. “When you put blood, sweat and tears into a project and it doesn’t fetch you the kind of box office you hoped for, it hurts,” Priyanka admitted. But she did not rise to the bait when asked what she feels about co-star and ‘ex’ Harman Baweja making his feelings public for her long after they had split. Guess when things are looking up for her the way they are right now, she has every reason to be gracious.

Anjaana Anjaani To Shoot At Rockefeller Center
For the first time in the history of Indian cinema, New York, including the completely forbidden Rockfeller Center's Christmas tree, will be shot during Christmas time by director Siddharth Anand in Anjaana Anjaani.
Elaborate plans have been made and producer Sajid Nadiadwala has got all the necessary permission to shoot in forbidden areas of New York where cameras are not allowed during the festive season.
Informs Anand, "Shooting in downtown New York during Christmas time is completely prohibited. We won't only be shooting in and around New York at Christmas time but we'll also be shooting the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Centre which is the tallest Christmas tree in the world. The tree there is 70 feet tall. That's equivalent two, three storey of a building."
Any kind of film shooting around the Rockefeller Christmas tree is strictly forbidden. Apparently, producer Nadiadwala got his friend Sylvester Stallone (who worked in Nadidawala's Kambhakkht Ishq) to pull some strings for the rare permission.
Says director Siddharth Anand, "I don't know how Sajid did it. But he managed the near-impossible. Priyanka, Ranbir and I are very excited about it."
Siddharth Anand is hoping for snow in New York. Without it, the whole carefully-planned concept of the lead pair Ranbir and Priyanka bringing in Christmas in New York would fall flat. Says Siddharth, "Yeah we're praying for a white Christmas in New York."
Ranbir who shot in artificial snow for Saawariya and also assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black which again had artificial snow is excited about the White Christmas in NY.
"My wife Mamta is styling Ranbir. He'll be dressed the way New Yorkers from West Village are. Very trendily in jackets, scarves, coats and woollens. We'll show Ranbir and Priyanka cruising the brightly lit-up streets of NY during Christmas. You'll see them shopping on camera. And that would be real Christmas shopping."

Bihar Cm Announces Financial Aid for Progeric Brothers
Spurred by the poignant story of Auro in Balki's Paa Bihar's chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced financial aid for the two Bihari progeric brothers Eqramul and Ali Hussein.
Balki is delighted by the impact of the film. "Now that's the kind of story one likes to hear about Paa. But let me repeat we did not make Paa to spotlight Progeria."
However, distancing the film and its content from the disease seems to be getting progressively difficult.
The Progeria Research Foundation in the US is now showing a keen interest in Paa. Says Balki, "I'd be only too happy for them to watch the film and decide how Paa could spread awareness about Progeria.
Once members of the Progeria Research Foundation watch Paa, later this month, the director intends to take his film further as a progeric vehicle. Balki is amused by all the attacks on the Progeric theme that have come from within the industry.
A very prominent director says, "That isn't how a Progeria patient looks. Balki has made Mr Bachchan look like a rubber doll."
Balki can't stop laughing. "I'm glad my film has made the whole industry experts on Progeria. But the fact of the matter is, we know exactly what Progeric kids look like. Amitji and I watched dozens of film clippings to understand the way Progeric children look and behave. And Amitji got it dead-on."
