Even as Shilpa got married to Raj in true Bunt style, there was an air of disappointment in her hometown, Mangalore. Sources close to the family at Mudalady said that while her maternal grandmother, Vijayakka, received the reception invite to be held tomorrow in Mumbai along with a saree worth Rs 10,000, she wasn't invited for the wedding, which took place yesterday. Her nani hails from Mudalady near Kateel. An uncle of Shilpa, on condition of anonymity, said while all close relatives were invited for the wedding yesterday as well as the reception to be held tomorrow, her nani didn't receive the wedding invitation card. Ever since Shilpa's wedding date was announced her family members at her ancestral house at Niddodi, Mudalpady near Kateel were fed-up with the constant media attention. They were often known to misguide media persons who visited the house to gather information on the actress's wedding.
Crying horse
Raj Kundra was in a hotel one and a half kilometres away from Bawa Villa, Khandala where Shilpa Shetty was waiting for the baraat. As the road connecting the two always has chock-a-block traffic, the police gave Raj permission for only a few minutes. As Raj's baraat was on its way to Bawa Villa, the ghodi stumbled. The horse's leg was a bit bruised and the loud firecrackers only added to its misery. They somehow managed to steady the horse and the baraat proceeded to the wedding venue.
Shilpa's governess on cloud nine
Among those who are excited about Shilpa's wedding in the coastal town, is Premakka, who worked for the Shetty family as a governess for Shilpa and her younger sister Shamita. She was more than happy that 'her child' is getting married. Premakka, who hails from Kinnigoli, was with the Shettys for almost ten years. Premakka also recollects meeting Shilpa when she visited Mangalore in 2007.
Post-wedding plans
Post the grand wedding reception in Mumbai tomorrow, the couple plans to visit the Oneness University, Chennai to seek the blessings of their spiritual gurus. They will then proceed to the Bahamas for their honeymoon.
Shaadi business
Tarun Tahiliani had designed Shilpa Shetty's wedding outfit. The baraat took about 30minutes to reach the wedding venue. The wedding mahurat was at exactly 6.30 pm, which is considered very auspicious. Only 40 guests comprising close family and friends of the couple were invited.
No one from Bollywood was invited except for Vashu and Jackky Bhagani, who are extremely close to Raj Kundra. The couple went to Shilpa Shetty's Mumbai house after the wedding for the bidaai ceremony.
